Food Fund Analyst
Black River Asset Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cargill, is an independently operated asset management company with offices in twelve countries. Black River provides qualified investors with alternative investment strategies. Black River offers a wide range of investment products supported by experienced investment professionals, rigorous risk processes and a well-established global infrastructure.
 
Black River is currently seeking an Analyst for the Black River Capital Partners Food Fund, a private equity fund with $455million USD under management,focused on making growth-oriented equity investments in the food sector. The position will support portfoliomanagers to identify attractive sectors and analyze potential investment opportunities in China.
 
Position Accountabilities:
30% - Construct, review and maintain financial models for existing and potential investments
20% - Follow assigned sectors and the leading firms within it.  Conduct industry research to identify attractive sectors and companies by collecting and analyzing market information
20% - Assist with drafting investment memoranda and the execution of private equity investments
20% - Support due diligence activities on potential investment opportunities and subsequently document the findings
10% - Other duties as assigned
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree.  
  • 2 years experience working in consulting, auditing, investment banking, or general corporate financial analysis 
  • Strong financial modeling and analysis skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Fluent in both Mandarin and English (written and verbal)
  • Extreme attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA degree with Finance focus
  • CFA / CPA
  • Food and/or agriculture industry related experience
  • General understanding of accounting and US GAAP rules
